How it works

4 alert choices

A clear cue at the boundary

Draw your boundary in our free app and save it to the collar. When your dog crosses that boundary, the selected alert starts. It stops when your dog returns inside. Help your dog learn the cues with supervised practice.

  • Sound: A clear audible boundary cue.
  • Vibration: A vibration-only boundary cue.
  • Sound + vibration: Two cues used together.
  • Sound + vibration + static correction: The full selectable alert mode.

Understanding Portable Dog Fence Alternatives

A portable dog fence usually means movable panels or a playpen. A GPS collar offers another approach for suitable outdoor spaces: a virtual boundary saved to the collar, with cues your dog learns through training.

Panels create a physical enclosure and need space for transport and assembly. GPS boundaries are configured in an app and require suitable coverage, reception and training. Choose according to the site and the type of boundary needed.

Check campsite rules, usable area and GPS reception first. If the site permits this type of boundary and meets the collar’s requirements, configure and test the layout, then introduce it to your dog under supervision.

Minimum space varies by system. PawTronic supports circles from an 82-foot radius or custom polygons from 0.5 acres. Compare those dimensions with the available outdoor area before choosing a GPS setup.

Confirm the location permits your chosen fence, check its dimensions and signal requirements, then set and test the new boundary. Help your dog learn the new perimeter through supervised practice before regular use.
