PawTronic Pro Series - Wireless GPS Dog Fence

So far I am pleased but still learning so here is my review with things than I learned along the way. We have 5 acres with a lot of trees on top of a ridge, surrounded by woods. Setting up the four sided boundary on my 5 acers was easy. While the unit does not have the ability to set irregular shaped boundaries the four sided boundary worked for my application. The shape that worked for me was kind of a rectangle, blocking the woods. The accuracy was good but allow about 25 feet for satellite sway. The collar unit does charge fast and has enough power to last for several days. Just make sure it is flashing red or green when you put the collar on your dog. This advice is from experiance, letting the dog out when it is flashing blue (trying to sync with a device for set up) does not alert the dog of a boundary. For us since the dog is inside most of the time and we only put it on her when we take her out it flashes red until it syncs with the satellites. This usually takes about 30 seconds for us when we go outside. Since we take the collar off and on several times a day we changed the collar to a nylon collar with a quick clasp and added a tracker to the collar. This has not created any performance issues.  Our dog goes with us to the out buildings. If we stay in the out building for long the collar will loose signal with the satellites so it will take a few seconds to connect once we go out of the building.  So be sure to keep your dog close for a minute or two to give the collar and satellites time to sync up.  Training was not hard. We walked our dog using her regular collar with the Pawtronics collar on her. At first we had to pull her back when the collar sounded the alerts. Once she began to move back on her own when the alerts went off we continued to keep her on a leash as we walked for another couple of weeks. Then we were able to walk her without the leash on her, but we carried the leash with us just in case. Now we can pretty much trust our dog to stay in the boundary. We do keep an eye on her since we have a lot of wildlife that cross our property. Overall I recommend Pawtronics. It has never given a false alarm or corrected our dog  when it was not warranted.
